an intimate family-focused city hall wedding in nyc

Back in 2020-2022 were the day of the pandemic - and the days of very strict city hall wedding guidelines, too. Gone were the days of bringing in family to celebrate inside the dingey, yet charming city hall on Worth Street in downtown NYC - and in were the days of allowing just one guest in as a witness - which included your photographer. Let’s just say I signed a LOT of witness papers during the pandemic. And what an honor it was! For about two years, I was the only one in the room with my couples as they made their love legally official.

On a chilly early winter afternoon, Katrina, a book translator and Dan, a film operator and musician, said a quick I Do in city hall, knowing they would do it all over again (this time, with personal vows and a bit more of an audience) in just a short hour surrounded by their family and friends in their suite at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge.

Inspired by their love for delicious Asian food and the many unique settings that NYC has to offer, we took portraits in Chinatown, which my couples often love as it’s a brief walk from Manhattan City Hall.

Captured on digital and a 35mm Canon FTB film camera.
