a cozy and music centered wedding in brooklyn
Josephine and JC share a special kind of love - or shall I say Mouse and Fish share a special kind of love (their cutie nicknames for each other.) When they reached out initially, I almost cried of joy reading their inquiry:
“We want to be able to relive the day through our photographs. We love in the moment photos, images that capture the spirit and joy of the day. Unusual angles, vantage points, pictures of things that “aren’t perfect” like forks/glasses in the air, a person’s hand holding a glassware stem, people in the middle of conversation, people in motion, and any other things that catch your eye and feel like the place/moment in time more than just a bunch of people all posed in a line. Of course we’ll need a few of those photos for ourselves and family (a few traditional shots are always nice), but other than that, we trust you to create your art and document the day as it is. For the two of us we want photos that feel vibrant and full of life– the little moments, the candids, – and also something pretty to hang on our wall!”
New Yorkers at heart, they wanted their wedding day to be 100% walkable - from their getting ready space (their quaint apartment in Park Slope) to the church to the Montauk Club. Josephine jokingly told JC on an early date that she doesn’t go outside a ten minute walking radius of her apartment because her neighborhood is just the cutest - honestly, I don’t blame her. It really is. However, in the past few years, this has been proven false, as Josephine has been venturing deep into the vast land of Manhattan more often. Another priority of this sweet couple was clear from the start - they LOVED music, with Josephine being a french horn player and singer in the church choir (well not on her wedding day, though. She took a day off :)The ceremony music was hand selected, each musical segment deeply meaningful to the couple. Post ceremony, they had a bagpiper process them and their guests to the Montauk Club, honoring Josephine’s Scottish heritage.
The evening consisted of heartfelt toasts, guests raking in seconds of Juniors cheesecake slices, slow (and not so slow) dancing, and a whole lot of laughter.
